Kresta Point:
A wonder of biodiversity
Reminiscent of a quiet dream, Kresta Point is a place where the oceanic currents from the Gulf of Alaska meet the tranquil back bays and passages of Sitka Sound, The waters surrounding the Point are unsurpassed in diversity of flora and fauna, and pods of killer whales traverse the Point in their quest for a meal. Red, green, and brown algae carpet the rocks and provide habitat and sanctuary for nudibranchs, sea snails, and juvenile fish. Giant anemones punctuate the intertidal zone with contrasting colors and distinctive patterns, their animated tentacles pulsating with the ocean swell.
